U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), members of the Senate Agriculture committee, introduced the Precision Agriculture Loan (PAL) Act. The bipartisan legislation would create a program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide loan financing to farmers and ranchers interested in purchasing precision agriculture equipment. John Deere has introduced two new cotton harvesters — the CP770 cotton picker and CS770 stripper. These machines can help farmers harvest every pound of seed cotton possible while preserving cotton quality from the field to the gin floor. The CP770 and CS770 are the most productive cotton harvesters ever built by John Deere, the manufacturer said. USDA Grant Funds Monarch Tractor Deployment, Partnership With Hopville Farms, Oregon State University →

Monarch Tractor will deploy its fully electric, driver-optional, smart tractor at Hopville Farms in Oregon. Funded through the USDA's Conservation Innovation Grant program, the tractor will be utilized to automate specific blueberry field maintenance tasks in an effort to reduce the use of diesel fuels while improving farming productivity. Additionally, in cooperation with Oregon State University, Hopville Farms and Monarch Tractor will work together to create a platform for field data collection that is expected to improve agronomy practices.  Click for more...
