U.S. Senators Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), members of the Senate Agriculture committee, introduced the Precision Agriculture Loan (PAL) Act. The bipartisan legislation would create a program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide loan financing to farmers and ranchers interested in purchasing precision agriculture equipment. Monarch Tractor will deploy its fully electric, driver-optional, smart tractor at Hopville Farms in Oregon. Funded through the USDA's Conservation Innovation Grant program, the tractor will be utilized to automate specific blueberry field maintenance tasks in an effort to reduce the use of diesel fuels while improving farming productivity. Kubota Tractor Corporation announced Wayne County Ag Center, in Collinwood, Tenn., as the winner of the Kubota "Hometown Proud" community revitalization grant program. Wayne County will receive a $100,000 grant and loaned equipment from Kubota to help develop the grounds for the county's first and only dedicated Agricultural Center (Ag Center). J. Ward McConnell Jr., a longtime veteran of the farm equipment industry, passed away on May 31, 2021. Mr. McConnell was born on July 30, 1931, on the family dairy farm in Prattsburgh, N.Y. Upon leaving the Army in 1956, he returned to Prattsburgh and opened a used car lot.
