When Kawasaki recently unveiled its new 95ZV loader, two central New York aggregate producers were quick to be the first on their block to own one. W.F. Saunders and Son Inc., of Marcellus, NY, recently purchased a Kawasaki 95ZV from Tracey Road Equipment. APAC-Georgia Reconditions Crack-Ridden Interstate 20 →

Motorists will have a much smoother ride on Interstate 20 when the Southern Roadbuilders Division of APAC-Georgia Inc. completes a $15.3-million reconditioning project in Columbia and McDuffie counties. “Interstate 20 was built in the early 1960s, and the highway had begun to show signs of significant wear,” said Brian Hall, project manager of APAC-Georgia. “As water seeped into the subgrade through the years, the subgrade had softened up, causing the concrete roadway surface to crack under the weight of traffic.” The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) had repaired several sections of the roadway through the years.  Click for more...

Located 35 mi. northwest of Columbia, SC, the NMO facility is set on 80 acres (32 ha). Fast-Track Project Speeds Trolleys Back to Scranton, PA →

From Construction Equipment Guide... It’s not just trains that are on fast tracks in Pennsylvania. The $1.1-million job just completed on Stafford Avenue in Scranton, PA, will not only replace a bridge that was demolished more than a decade ago — thereby restoring the Laurel Line rail link from Scranton to Montage, PA — but also it was a project that was designed and built very quickly. In fact, according to Dave Krisanda, community relations coordinator of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 4, the project “went from the conceptual stage to the final design and project delivery in only four months.” The Project’s History Pat McCabe, PennDOT senior project construction manager, described the background to this unusual undertaking. “In 1988, a wooden deck highway bridge over a then abandoned railway line was removed and backfilled to avoid the cost of a new bridge,” he began.  Click for more...
